  • "One of the Most Food Friendly and Delicious Wines on the Planet: German Riesling” With Gourmet Magazine’s Michael Green



    On July 23, 2007, Unwind with Wine™, a wine tasting and networking club, explored German wines with Gourmet Magazine's Wine Consultant Michael Green at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers. Michael led us through six German Rieslings, which offer some of the most thrilling, complex and delicious drinking ever tasted. The wines were paired with a three-course meal prepared by Chef Pnina Peled of Ristorante Cinque Terre at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers.

  • "Wine Expert Ed McCarthy's Six Favorite Italian White Wines" with Wine for Dummies' Ed McCarthy


    On June 25, 2007, Unwind with Wine™, a wine tasting and networking club, "went Italian" as wine expert and Wine for Dummies co-author Ed McCarthy led us through a tasting tour of six of his favorite crisp and refreshing white wines from across Italy at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers. These delightful wines, ideal for summer time entertaining, were paired with Chef Pnina Peled's equally charming dishes from Ristorante Cinque Terre at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers.

  • "Five Great Grapes You've Never Heard of, But Need to Know" With Food & Wine Magazine's Ray Isle


    On May 31, 2007, Unwind with Wine™, a wine tasting and networking club, offered a unique opportunity to get acquainted with some below-the-radar grape varietals with its "Five Great Grapes You've Never Heard of, But Need to Know" tasting with Food & Wine Magazine's Ray Isle at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers. Ray scoured the globe for unsung whites like Geravassiliou Malagousia, Dr. Frank Rkatseteli, Susanna Balbo Torrontés and unheralded reds like Foradori Teroldego and Terrunyo Carmenère. He guided us through a tasting of these wines that were paired with dishes by Chef Pnina Peled of Ristorante Cinque Terre at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers.

  • "Breaking All the Wine Rules" with Wine Educator Joshua Wesson of Best Cellars


    On April 25, 2007, Unwind with Wine™, a wine tasting and networking club, hosted an iconoclastic wine tasting, "Breaking All the Wine Rules," with the exuberant and amusing wine educator Joshua Wesson, who is also the founder of Best Cellars, a revolutionary NYC wine shop that takes the guess-work out of finding amazing bottles for under $15. Joshua took on "taboos" like pairing white wine with red meat or wine with salad or artichokes. The tasting included six different kinds of wine unconventionally matched with dishes by Chef Pnina Peled of Ristorante Cinque Terre at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers. Joshua Wesson is a leading authority on pairing wine with food. He writes for numerous national magazines and has appeared on several national morning shows including NBC's "Today Show" and "The CBS Early Show."

  • A "Seduced by Bacon" Wine Tasting with Cookbook Author Joanna Pruess and Crain's NY Business Restaurant Critic Bob Lape


    On January 30, 2007, Unwind with Wine™, a new wine tasting and networking club, hosted a "Seduced by Bacon" wine tasting celebrating the new cookbook, Seduced by Bacon, written by Joanna Pruess with her husband, Bob Lape. Joanna Pruess is an award-winning author of several cookbooks and has also written for publications like the New York Times, The Washington Post and the Associated Press. Bob Lape is Crain's NY Business' highly-acclaimed restaurant critic who also hosts "Dining Diary" on WCBS-AM Radio. The tasting featured six different wines paired with delightful finger foods incorporating everyone's favorite decadent ingredient, bacon, prepared by Executive Chef Pnina Peled of Ristorante Cinque Terre at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers. A book signing followed the event.

  • "Affordable Holiday Sparklers" with Eric Asimov Chief Wine Critic, of the New York Times


    On December 13, 2006, Unwind with Wine™ welcomed Eric Asimov, the New York Times' chief wine critic for a guided tasting of "Affordable Holiday Sparklers" at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers. Eric showed attendees how to impress holiday guests without busting their budgets with Eric's picks of the best bubblies from all over the world, including Prosecco and Champagne. This tasting included a three-course Italian dinner prepared by Executive Chef Pnina Peled of Ristorante Cinque Terre at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers.

  • "Dancing with the Stars"-themed Tango and Malbec Holiday Party


    On December 11, 2006, Hanna Lee Communications, Inc. organized a holiday party on behalf of Les Dames d'Escoffier's New York chapter at The Consulate General of Argentina. The evening included two enchanting tango shows performed by Thomas Reale, a world-renowned tango instructor, and his protégée, Hanna Lee, a Les Dames member and President of Hanna Lee Communications, Inc., founder of Unwind with Wine™. More than 50 Les Dames members and their guests enjoyed a fine selection of Malbec wines from the Mendoza region that were donated by Wines of Argentina, as well as Argentinean finger foods catered by Buenos Aires Restaurant, including savory beef empanadas.

  • "Scoring Your Own Wine" with W.R. Tish


    On November 8, 2006, Unwind with Wine™ hosted its second event, "Scoring Your Own Wine," with renowned wine educator W. R. Tish. This former editor of Wine Enthusiast Magazine guided attendees through a range of his favorite reds and whites. Along the way, they had a chance not only to rate the wines, but also to critique the critics. The fun rating on this tasting was a sure 93! The tasting included Italian antipasti and finger food prepared by Chef Pnina Peled of Ristorante Cinque Terre at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers.

  • Unwind with Wine™'s Premiere Tasting with Wine Author and Educator Mark Oldman: "Six Wines to Devastate Your Friends"


    On October 3, 2006, Unwind with Wine™, a wine tasting and networking club hosted its first event, "Six Wines to Devastate Your Friends" with the highly-entertaining wine author and educator, Mark Oldman. Mark is a monthly wine columnist for Everyday with Rachael Ray Magazine and led us through a tasting of exciting wines. They included some of his favorites like Prosecco, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürtztraminer, Cru Beaujolais, Malbec and Shiraz. This tasting also included a selection of Italian antipasti and finger foods by Chef Pnina Peled of Ristorante Cinque Terre at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers.

  • Mionetto Prosecco Tasting with A3, the Asian American Association of Time Inc.


    On September 21, 2006, Mionetto Prosecco hosted a members-only tasting for A3, the Asian American Association of Time, Inc., which showcased six different Mionetto Proseccos paired with fun finger foods at the Time & Life Building. The speakers were Enore Ceola, managing director, Mionetto USA and Mark Tucker, marketing manager, Mionetto USA. A3 is committed to supporting Time Inc.'s vision of diversity and seeks to enhance the company's success by promoting an Asian-American presence through networking and professional development activities; partnerships with internal and external groups; and education, collaboration and communication.

  • New York Women In Communications and Unwind With Wine™ Club present: "Cocktails & Conversations: The Art of Wine"


    On June 12, 2006, New York Women in Communications and Unwind with Wine™ Club presented "Cocktails and Conversations: The Art of Wine" with guest speaker Elin McCoy at The Jolly Hotel Madison Towers. Elin is the author of "The Emperor of Wine," the definitive biography of Robert M. Parker, Jr. NYWICI members tasted, explored, and learned which red or white works best for power lunches, thank yous and dinner with loved ones. NYWICI empowers women in all communications disciplines to reach their full potential by promoting their professional growth and inspiring them to achieve and share their successes.
